  • Ministry of Health

Cambodia is a signatory to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals in 2010. The Royal Government is committed to reducing maternal and infant mortality rates to meet the target by 2015 and is included in the Strategic Plan 2008-2015. The role of the Cambodian Midwifery Council is to support the Ministry of Health in promoting midwifery services. The Ministry of Health’s Strategic Framework for Reducing Maternal and Infant Mortality (FTIRM) is a key document that outlines strategies to support the health of women, infants and communities, and to increase the number of midwives and improve the quality of midwifery services.   • United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has been supporting the Cambodian Midwifery Service since 2009 by providing technical support in the preparation and implementation of the strategic plan, through financial support for the implementation of the annual operational plan, including providing a program assistant for the Cambodian Midwifery Service.

  • URC

URC provides technical assistance to the Cambodian Midwifery Service in the development of an electronic registration system and the development of a website.

  • VSO

VSO provided technical assistance to the Cambodian Midwifery Council through Ms. Kathryn Hinchliff as an Institutional Development Advisor from June 2011 to November 2013.

  • CUSO

CUSO is an international organization based in Canada and cooperates with VSO International by providing technical assistance to the Cambodian Midwifery Council through Mr. Robin Hill from October 2013 to November 2015.

  • World Health Organization (WHO)

The World Health Organization (WHO) provided financial support to the President of the Cambodian Midwifery Council to conduct a study tour to Thailand to learn about the successful experience of the Thai Midwifery Council in implementing midwifery management. In addition, WHO supported the President of the Cambodian Midwifery Council to attend international seminars in South Africa and Vietnam to showcase the progress of the Cambodian Midwifery Council. As a result, the Cambodian Midwifery Association has established contacts with midwives abroad and has agreed to exchange visits with the Thai Midwifery Association.

  • International Confederation of Midwives (ICM)

Cambodia has been a member of the International Confederation of Midwives for many years. The President of the Cambodian Midwifery Association attended the ICM conference and gave a presentation in July 2012. Ms. Ing Rada, President of the Cambodian Midwifery Association, attended the ICM Asia-Pacific Regional Conference to present on the progress of the Cambodian Midwifery Association.

The Cambodian Midwifery Association also collaborates with other ministries and NGOs.
