The role of  CMC is to provide safety for the public through:

-Setting of professional standards including core competencies and ethics.
-Establishing a register of all midwives and criteria for entry to the register.
-Monitoring the performance of midwives.
-Investigating complaints about midwives and dealing with disciplinary issues.
-Setting standards for training.
-Supporting the Ministry of Health in achieving Cambodia’s millennium development goals (MDG’S) 4 and 5.
